While Kili isn't one too often hold his tongue even in the most dire of situations, he manages not to say that he finds himself anticipating the next time he'll see Tauriel nearly every day. An unexpected meeting with her instills in him a feeling like nothing else he's ever experienced before, one that makes his stomach feel like it is twisting and turning but not in an entirely unlikable way. Being in her company is different from being in that of any of his friends, not only because of how deeply he loves Tauriel but because Kili tends to be far more aware of himself with her than with anyone else.
For some, that may seem to be a bad thing; but for Kili, it is simply new. He knows who he is outside of this world, who he'd been in Arda and what he'd hoped to accomplish with his life. In Darrow, his desires and needs have changed because there is no Erebor to reclaim, no mother or uncle to behave for (even if he hadn't ever behaved half as well as they would have liked in the first place), no family name to honor, at least not in front of anyone who would truly care.
In Darrow, his focus has shifted to caring for himself and for his brother, to treating his friends as kindly as he would like to be treated, and to making sure that Tauriel never once has to doubt how deeply he loves her so that one day, she will be comfortable in feeling the same of him.
So he merely reaches out to take her hand, his cheeks faintly flushing with pleasure. "You will be the only one to witness it if anyone does wish such a thing," Kili promises, brushing his thumb gently over her skin. "My eyes shall be reserved for only one on this night, and she is already standing before me."
